Who is Laurie Klein?
"Studying with Ansel Adams
completely changed my life.
He taught me to open up
and see the art in the work.
He taught me that if you
tap into your passion, you’re
not being false to yourself.”
—Laurie Klein Laurie
Klein has built an international reputation for her
distinctive romantic photography. A protégé
of the great landscape photographer Ansel Adams, Laurie
has evolved a unique style that combines her love of photographing
nature with her exceptional skills for capturing the loving
essence of a relationship. She works closely with her clients
to create unique and lasting impressions of their life’s
journey. Laurie’s expertise, combined with the spirit
of the shoot, brings an added dimension of intimacy to her
images.
Laurie’s photographs have appeared in many prestigious
magazines. Her images are also featured on a line of greeting
cards and posters and can be found on the cover and interior
of “Bridal Style” an elegant coffee table book.
Laurie is the author of “Hand Coloring Black and White
Photography”, published by Quarry Books. She has appeared
on Lifetime and The Discovery Channel discussing her unique
artistic techniques.
Recently, Laurie was inducted into the prestigious Cameracraftsmen
of America Society, indisputably placing her among the top
40 photographers alive today. Her work is now sought after
and very collectible.
Laurie Klein also lectures internationally. She recently
returned from a PPA lecture series. She has spoken about
wedding and portrait photography at Condé Nast's
March on Madison Avenue showcase, and the Women in Photography
retreat. Laurie is also sponsored by Fuji and is a member
of the Fuji Talent Team. She has taught photography at Western
Connecticut State University, The University of Bridgeport,
Ohio University and Phillips Academy. Laurie owns and operates
a commercial photography studio in Brookfield, Connecticut
where she frequently mentors up-and-coming new talent.
Laurie lives enthusiastically at the edge of a lake and
when she is not busy propelling her sons into college, she
uses her aquatic environment as a natural backdrop for many
of her most intimate moments on camera. Her sensual "Bodies
in Water" series is receiving much acclaim. Oft-described
as a diva, earth mother and mermaid, there is only one word
to define the lifeforce evident in her work: "PASSION!"
Laurie Klein Photography is a leader in non-traditional
photography. Her exclusive work has been sought after by
discerning brides, families and collectors. Her subjects
often find the experience so enjoyable and rewarding that
they return after the shoot, time and again, to continue
to allow Laurie Klein Photography the privilege of capturing
their on-going life’s journey.
