What do Firefly Institute and Morocco have in common?

What do Firefly Institute and Morocco have in common?

“Because there’’s one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood.”
From Sonoma to Morocco! Two back to back workshops with women.
I just returned from an incredible journey at Firefly Institute at Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma, an all women’s camp. We had a mandatory power outage due to October winds and the potential for forest fires. It didn’t phase any of us. If anything, it brought us closer together. I taught 4 workshops: Beauty in the Model, Finding your Visual Voice, Hand Coloring, and Through the Veil. I am so inspired by the students and their commitment to their creativity. I really pushed their comfort zone, and their images reflected how deeply they went. Check out Firefly’s website. Also, I had the privilege of teaching with Nat Geo’s Annie Griffiths for the second year in a row. Annie started Ripple Effects Images, a nonprofit telling remarkable stories about women around the world. What an inspiring woman, check out her Wikipedia page, and learn more about her stories.
The second all-women workshop is our Morocco workshop which begins this coming weekend. It was not intentionally an all woman workshop but that is how it turned out. We sold out with women in their 20’s to women in their 80’s. I can only imagine how we will all encourage and support one another. Can’t wait to share images when Shelley and I get back.

Registration closes Nov 26th
Venture with Laurie Klein Workshops into the beauty that is Louisiana’s Atchafalaya Cajun country to photograph natural wonders and remembrances of a time gone by. Regardless of your favorite photographic genre, subjects abound in the beautiful, vast, and mysterious Atchafalaya basin: Spanish moss suspended from ancient oak trees, cypress knees rising from the marshy waters, wildlife of every variety, landscapes, and history. As a special feature, we will have two environmental portraiture sessions with the incredible Nicole Cudzilo surrounded by the majesty of the largest, restored plantation in the South. From Nottoway Plantation, our home base on the banks of the Mississippi river, we will strike out each day to capture the amazing scenery and culture of the area. Join Laurie Klein and Shelley Vandegrift for this one of a kind photography experience.
