Take a Leap of Faith.
Begin this Wondrous New Year by Believing.
Sarah Ban Breathnach

Have you read Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach? It truly is a very inspiring book, a book that helped me gain clarity during difficult times.

The new year it is a time for me to celebrate what I have created and accomplished, and not dwelling on what I need to do or what I haven’t done. So easy to beat ourselves up over never doing enough…..

A dear friend made me aware that that I don’t talk much about myself and my accomplishments. Maybe 2019 is the year for me to do so. I was always taught not to brag, to play down accomplishments, but exactly what does that mean?

I think it meant something different to those who taught me that lesson. I think possibly they wanted me to play it small. If that is the case, then that statement was all about them.
So who am I in 2019?

I want to collect all the parts of me that I have given up or given away. I want to celebrate who I am.

In the image above, which I created last week, is called “Layers of Time.” It is part of my new series “The Invisible Story.” As a female growing up I felt invisible, without a voice. I chose a medium for expression that doesn’t make a sound (photography) and I primarily work in a non visible spectrum (infrared). This image is a composite of 2 images that were made 20 years apart, provoking memories of possibilities and making the invisible, visible.

This is my stance coming into the new year.

Luminar Users ~ A note from Shelley
Any one who has worked with us, knows we highly recommend Luminar for its ease of editing infrared images. We continue to believe it is one of the best solutions for photographers who want maximum creativity with minimum time, effort and study. The release of Luminar 3 brings the long awaited digital asset management (“DAM”) function, which allows users to organize and catalog their images instead of using Lightroom’s Library or Photoshop’s Bridge. Unfortunately, this first iteration is a step in the right direction but not quite what people had hoped. Knowing the creative skill the Skylum team brings to developing Luminar, we feel certain a better version is already in the works.

Our recommendation is to either stick with Luminar 2018 or use Luminar 3 only as a plug-in to Lightroom and Photoshop bypassing the new DAM module for now.

A sample of the key problems reported with this first version of Luminar 3’s DAM are:
  • Slow performance.
  • Limited metadata, no automatic file renaming, and no keywords making it impossible to search for an image on anything other than date or ratings assigned in Luminar 3.
  • Inability to apply a develop preset on new images when added to the catalog.
  • No support for RAW + JPEG image pairs.
