“‘Sooner then later, everything old is new again.” Stephen King
join me in Morocco this fall.
Look what is happening with photography.
Things that became obsolete are making a come back.
Is it nostalgia?
I wrote an article for Professional Photographers of America years ago about “Film isn’t dead why do we have to fix it?”
Today, many people are playing with film again, the roots of photography. It is a great way to deepen the connection to one’s craft.
Digital is fast and furious, it captures a moment and then moves on. Film, developing and darkroom are experiential, creating a different commitment. The process happens over time, and during that time, a connection develops. One isn’t better than the other, just different. They both are important ways to express ourselves and connect with others.
I have had multiple conversations with Freestyle Photo about the resurgence of analogue photography. Quite exciting! Stay tuned!
Many of you know, my first published book was Hand Coloring Black and White Photography. I loved creating one of a kind prints for my brides, family legacy and for collectors of my fine art. Check out my video.
Digital Silver Imaging has a silver gelatin paper that that works beautifully with hand coloring. I am working on ahand coloring tutorial with their paper. It is so meditative. I never thought I would have the opportunity to hand color with my style again.
Embracing the new, which is how life works.
MOROCCO ~ JOIN ME October 20-31
A place I have never been to before and a dream of mine to go to. Old cities with a set of new eyes. New experiences. I get so excited, maybe I will bring film, maybe I will hand color some of the images, guiding my students on blending the old with the new, or the new with the old.
I hope you will join me for this incredible experience of times gone by with a new vision… yours……
Morocco with Laurie Klein Workshops: October 20-31, 2019
