The answer to that question is INSPIRATION
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
Recently I was in Arizona, and the majesty of sky and land was breathtaking. I felt like I was in my 20’s again photographing with Ansel Adams. I felt like I was transported back to where I began as a landscape photographer.
I have done very little photographing in the past 8 months. Life got really busy. You know how that goes.
In Sedona, I photographed everyday. One morning, I got up at 4 a.m. in order to photograph the majestic dreamlike rock formations as the sun’s rays hit them with warmth and gold.
While in Sedona, I felt surges of hunger inside, the desire to express and create. Why did I let so much time pass? I stopped myself. I can’t dwell on the past. I needed to be in the present where I felt alive and passionate, returning home with my creative juices. I can’t even begin to tell you how many gigs I shot. I am taking my time with these new images, feeling feelings I am meant to feel. Witnessing what drew me to take the images I made and what seems to repeat itself from image to image.
I have noticed the attention to the clouds. I waited and waited for the clouds to be in just the right place at the right time. Definitely something I learned from Ansel.
Yes I want to go back with all of you. I have decided to do a workshop there in 2020. Stay tuned, more on that.
Sedona was back to my roots, back to what inspired me decades ago to be a photographer.
Thank you Arthur Fish for your wonderful words after I posted the above image on facebook.
